In this lecture, Dr. Wiseman will explain what we know about the development of dementia in people who have Down syndrome and what still needs to be understood. She will discuss the genetic cause of Down syndrome, and how this predisposes someone to develop early onset dementia. In particular, how researchers use cell and animal models and clinical data to workout which genes cause the early onset of dementia in people who have Down syndrome, and how this knowledge is being used to develop dementia treatments
