Nomination for Chair(s) of the Neuropathology Work Group

The Neuropathology Work Group at T21RS seeks applications for a Chair or two Co-Chairs.

Only members of T21RS can nominate, vote or run for office.

This work group is focused on providing up-to-date information regarding cellular and molecular neuropathology studies in the DS and DS-AD space and availability of brain tissue samples for academic research. The working group will discuss ways to sustain and expand brain banking efforts within the USA and internationally in the field of DS. The working group will provide educational mentorship for students, postdoctoral trainees and junior faculty interested in learning methods associated with neuropathology of DS including the use of human brain tissues in their research studies. Finally, the working group together with the Program Committee will organize virtual and in person meetings focused on DS human brain tissue studies and coordinate publications describing the neuropathological staging of AD in DS and other neuropathological comorbidities that occur with aging in the population with DS.

The Chair is expected to:

1. Organize bi-monthly meetings of the work group, including Clinical Pathologic Conferences for case-discussion.

2. Promote neuropathological content at conferences

3. Provide information regarding tissue requests and available tissues.

4. Provide information to families interested in the brain donation program.

Deadline for nominations is August 31st.

This position is non officer of the society so an election will not be necessary. The executive board will be in charge of selecting the new chair among all candidates.
