T21RS Webinar – December 15, 2025
T21RS is pleased to invite you to the free Webinar hosted by the Education and Training Committee.
Dr. Floriana Costanzo, Unit of Child and Adolescent Neuropsychiatry, Bambino Gesù Pediatric Hospital (IRCCS), Rome, Italy
Dr. Marco Cambiaghi, Department of Neurosciences, Biomedicine and Movement Sciences, University of Verona, Italy
will present the topic:
“Non-invasive brain stimulation as a new therapeutic strategy for cognitive and behavioural improvement in Down syndrome”
This webinar will explore the role of non-invasive brain stimulation—specifically transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS)—as a promising approach for enhancing cognitive and behavioural functioning in Down syndrome. We will discuss how this technique can modulate neuroplasticity and excitation–inhibition balance in neurodevelopmental and genetic disorders, highlighting its potential relevance for Down syndrome.
During the webinar, two ongoing trials will be presented: one, led by Dr. Marco Cambiaghi, evaluating the effects of tDCS in mouse models of Down syndrome; and the other, led by Dr. Floriana Costanzo, investigating tDCS in adolescents and young adults with Down syndrome, combined with a language training program to improve expressive language abilities.
The session aims to stimulate discussion on how tDCS may contribute to shaping innovative therapeutic interventions for individuals with Down syndrome.
